Remembering the Literary Heart of Haarlem

It was only by chance (or maybe instinct?) that I opened the Book 25 Jaar Literaire Instuif Haarlem Poetisch Jaarschrift 3 and realized that today is the 41st year since Yvonne Koldewijn opened the door and her heart to the Literaire Instuif Haarlem (Literary Institute of Haarlem).

The literary evenings was initiated by Bert Sliggers with the assistance of Hans Invernizzi until they organized themselves initially only with the helping hand of Yvonne but in a few years the organizers laid the entire organization to her. She has given her entire life and heart to the institute that one of the board members has said that "Yvonne Koldewijn is niet alleen de organisator van de Instuif; ze ís de Literaire Instuif Haarlem" (Yvonne Koldewijn is not only the organizer of the Institute, she is the Literary Institute of Haarlem). She was so devoted that the Mayor and Alderman of the City of Haarlem awarded her a Medal of Merit on November 7, 1999 just a few months before her death.

So today, I remember once again the Literary heart of Haarlem.
