CHEWING TIME

Tiny teeth marks on the case
of Mother's chewed up watch
Gave the clue as to who
could have perpertrated such an act.
Kevin had teeth that could chew stones
and spit out sand
So he was hauled before the famlily court
where Mother donned her cloak of justice.
She had black eyes that had traversed  Time
from her ancient gypsy clan;
Eyes that could pierce the heart
and lay bare the soul of their target.
Lies were no defence to Mother's eyes,
but Kevin gave it his best shot.
His eyes, white with terror of the inevitable,
lent a pleading elequonce to his denials.
The case dragged on, black eyes of white
battling with white eyes of black.

Then Mother said, "Tell the truth and I won't hit you."
He did.  And she did.
I thought, as I watched him cry
that no one had asked him - Why?

Wrote that about my brother Kevin a long time ago.
He's up to something again that it made me remember the poem.

Here is what he is up to at the moment:

Out with 3 happy ladies

What a lucky lad I am!
Out in the sunshine today with two lovely ladies-Jose and Juhi , a happy lady dog- Vosje and the feeling that creation was not a waste of time....Nature as Healer.

They were talking and laughing that I just decided to follow them around and watch them with enjoyment.

Some sights while biking

We were out biking and came across this saw-mill windmill...it is called The unicorn or de Eenhorn in Dutch and is still in use and can saw big trees into planks...

We also came across a boat along the river...

And a duck...

Thought that was nice!

New Haarlem Bus Station

I got this photo of the announcement on the new bus station last year...

Today I took a few photos of this new bus station but it is hard to get perspective as I have no elevation. It is not yet finished but it is already operational.

Also went underground to the bike parking which could accommodate 7900 bikes when completed...all the rows are double-decker and there are many of them...

Out with the Dog

This was a good walk on a windy day with Vosje, the dog

He got excited though when he saw the ducks and went into the water!

He did not catch any  duck! But I think he enjoyed his swim!

Spring?

Looks like spring has returned to the parks of Haarlem.

The Way to Peace

When you feel your heart is about to break
And tears at night keep you awake
And dreams of what might once have been
Invade your mind 'till you could scream,
THEN CRY.

Cry out loud, release the pain
And ask of God to live again,
There is a light within the gloom
To lead you to a warmer room,
THEN PRAY.

Pray that you may warm to life
And rid your heart of pain and strife
And pray that you may wear a smile
And each new day seem more worthwhile
THEN LOVE.

Love yourself that you may find
An inner strength and peace of mind
And look at life through eyes of love
And then give thanks to God above.
THEN PEACE.

~~Aidan Sharkey

What is the best gift one can have for his birthday?
I'd say PEACE! You wish that it could come to your life at a blink of an eye. I guess that could happen but oftentimes it takes a journey. May the way lead to Peace.

To Frances

As you lie alone in your bed tonight
And I in my blue sleeping bag
I'll be lying awake by the glow of the light
That comes when I pull on my fag.

And the pull on the fag that gets it to glow
Reminds me what you are to me,
For you fanned a dead fire and caused it to grow
And the flames now help me to see.

And if there are times when it seems I'm not there
And a loneness creeps into your soul
Don't ever forget that I do really care
For without you I'll never be whole.

So goodnight, my love, and sleep in peace,
May your dreams be filled with love,
And for your presence in my life
I give thanks to God above.

From Aidan

I wrote that Poem almost 20 years ago on going camping to Gartan.
I remembered it when discussing LOVE with a friend. Frances was my first love. I did not know love until I met her.

Frances

She held me together with love.
Neat stitches of kisses and cuddles
kept me in place
where wildness had torn me apart.
She washed the blood from my face
and changed my angry fists
to caressing hands again.
